These are proposed concepts for a refresh of the NWSL brand. Scripps Sports has been broadcasting NWSL games since 2024. For the new season there will be some new additions to the look of our promotions and social media. Here are three concepts I submitted. I wanted to convey the relationship between the fans and players.
This concept uses the five sided object as a frame that opens the stadium and frames the player in front of everything. Fans remain but change in color as the shape closes to reveal the messaging on the second frame.
This concept uses team footage in the background with heavily treated effects to make a background for the message. In this case, the team has the back of the fans. The message completes ad it moves up with the three fan panels in the second panel. This might work well if we choose actual NWSL fans and put their names as captions to make this a fan service campaign. If it can’t practically be done for games and promos, it could for social media.
All of these ideas are based on the relationship of the fans with the teams. A mutual trust, having each other’s backs. The copy emphasizes the idea. There’s a layering of team behind fans or vice versa.
